INNOVAFRICA PRE-POLICY DIALOGUE MEETING.

On 11th May 2021, the InnovAfrica project team members from KENAFF, KALRO, and BecA- ILRI Hub held a meeting with Mr. Harry Kimtai, the Principal Secretary, State Department for Livestock (SDL), Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock, Fisheries and Co-operatives, Kenya at Kilimo House, Nairobi to discuss evidence-based policy inputs on Brachiaria grass technology and VillageKnowledge Centres (VKCs)
This was a pre-policy dialogue in preparation for an upcoming policy dialogue meeting with a wider group of audience. Over the remaining project period, the focus shall continue on bridging the research into the practice gap for climate adaptive and sustainable agricultural technologies and innovations for smallholder farmers in Kenya. To make the project’s accomplishments meaningful and sustainable for the benefit of Kenyan farmers, it is critical to integrate the outputs into the country’s policymaking
processes. To achieve the desired outcomes, InnovAfrica KENAFF shall engage closely with the Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock, Fisheries and Cooperatives (MoALF& C), the Council of Governors (CoG), and all other relevant actors in order to turn this into a success. As the InnovAfrica project arrives at its last phase, there is a heightened focus on dissemination of the project results to various end-users. In this regard, KENAFF is organizing policy dialogue workshops and developing policy briefs.
