Launching of Kenya Forum for Agricultural Advisory Services (KeFAAS)

Kenya Forum for Agricultural Advisory Services (KeFAAS) is one of AFAAS country chapter across Africa. It was officially launched on 22nd may 2015 at Green Hills Nyeri.  AFAAS was represented by Max Olupot, Technical Assistant of the Executive Director, in charge of Partnership.

A 12 member interim committee was drawn from the following organizations; Access Agriculture, KENAFF, KALRO, Ministry of Agriculture Livestock and fisheries, State department of livestock, state department of Agriculture, University of Nairobi, Egerton University, Kilimo Media and Land Information Network (ALIN)

KeFAAS aims to strengthen Agricultural Advisory Services through interactive learning and improved knowledge exchange in Kenya. Its objectives are: Establish Fora for sharing information among stakeholders in the agriculture sector; Identify national, regional and international best practice and standards in extension service delivery and design interventions to adopt them; Highlighting innovations in service delivery; Identify and support strategies of harmonizing extension service delivery; Enhance synergy in strategies, programs and projects within the sector for purposes of coordination and harmony.

Upon successful establishment it shall ensure that rural advisory services contribute to sustainable reduction of hunger and poverty country wide by providing advocacy and leadership on rural advisory services through formation of county chapters. This forum will offer the much needed support in providing evidence based approaches, policies knowledge, and information sharing for action oriented learning and coordinated agricultural advisory services.
